- Product Name / Statement of Identity The common or usual name of the food (e.g., “Strawberry Jam” or “Cold Brew Coffee”). This must be clear and prominently displayed.
- Net Quantity of Contents The amount of food in the package, shown in both metric and U.S. customary units (e.g., “Net Wt. 12 oz (340g)”).
- Ingredient List All ingredients must be listed in descending order by weight. Sub-ingredients and additives must also be properly declared.
- Nutrition Facts Panel The standardized nutrition information box showing calories, total fat, sugars, protein, vitamins, and other nutrients per serving.
- Allergen Declaration Clear identification of the 9 major food allergens (milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame). This can be in the ingredient list or a separate “Contains” statement.
- Manufacturer, Packer, or Distributor Name & Address The legal name and address of the company responsible for the product.
- Country of Origin (when applicable) Required if the product makes any origin claims or for certain imported foods.
- Lot Code / Expiration or “Best By” Date For traceability and food safety, especially important for perishable or ready-to-eat products.
- Storage & Handling Instructions (if needed) Statements such as “Keep Refrigerated” or “Refrigerate After Opening” when required for safety.
